Industrial Chic: Steampunk Living Spaces

For most interior designers industrial chic is the closest thing to living an all out steampunk lifestyle. Personally I love industrial chic. Minimalism modern mixed with steampunk accents can make one of the trendiest and perfect living environments. I put together this treasury called Industrial Living as a guide to designing your steampunk interior. Here are some pictures I found to inspire you:

Miss Mimi’s Inspiration: Body Art

Art has many forms. Math is art with numbers, Science is art with chemicals and DNA, and then there is the art we know as fine art. One thing about art is the many applications it has in life, and some of the best forms of art are the most eccentric. If there is any kind of art I admire… it’s body art. Here is a wonderful blog I found recently that includes some very beautiful body art pieces.

Here are some tattoos I found and adore.

Miss Mimi’s Inspiration: Color.

We all need it. We all want it. We can’t live without it (especially when it comes to traffic lights). Imagine a world without color in it? Scary huh? Almost as scary as a world without music or sound. Now stop thinking about it, you might have nightmares.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m more and more thankful each and everyday for the colors in the world. The colors of nature, people, even the monochromatic colors of cityscapes.  Winter’s cold dreariness is not without it’s color, nor is the freshly emerging spring. As both a shop owner and an artist I can’t help but be in love with all the ideas of color, the psychology, the imagination, the combinations and contrasts. I just love it.

Here is a list of Etsy shoppes I found recently that are dedicated to color in all it’s forms. There is something for every taste.:

A New Listing!: Here Comes the Bride

Actually a funny story. A dear friend of mine had asked me to make her a wedding veil for her wedding. Now I had never made a wedding veil before, and I began immediately to make it, and when I sent her photos she replied her dress was Ivory. I had made the veil white. So to remedy the situation I made her another completely unique veil in ivory, and this one is for you.

My philosophy on wedding veils: It’s a waist of money if you can’t purchase one for $40 or less. Weddings are expensive enough right? This veil proves that it can be done and done well. It is called Mimi’s Simple and Sweet Birdcage Veil. For the woman who lives the simple life and believes in natural beauty. Now aren’t you glad I make happy mistakes?

Weekly Treasury #13

Oh 13. What an unlucky number. Makes me think of all the times I’ve ever had to go the the Doctor with some kind of unfortunate illness or injury. Going to the Doc has never been a happy experience for me. I’m not sure it really is for anyone.

I found this treasury a while ago with the search term “industrial” and I thought it went perfectly with our steampunk theme. However I assure you that you’d not want to go see this nurse. This treasury is called “Nurse Ratchett?”  and was created by RollingHillsVintage (who has some very neat and practical vintage items). Allow your eyes to draw you into this one:
